How it works

From your code to their inbox, in about a second

Six steps, and you only ever do the first three once.

  1. Install Put the app on an Android phone with your SIM.
  2. Pair Scan a QR code. The phone is yours alone.
  3. Get a key One API key per piece of your software.
  4. Call One POST with a number and a message.
  5. Send The phone wakes and sends from your SIM.
  6. Track Delivery status back by API or webhook.
Features

Everything you need to run SMS yourself

Not a bulk-SMS reseller. The gateway you own.

An API you can read in five minutes

One POST sends a message; one GET tells you what happened to it. Keys are scoped, rate limited and revocable one at a time, retries are idempotent so a timeout never sends twice, and the documentation inside your panel already has your own base URL and device id filled in.

Keys, not a password

One key per app. Stored hashed, shown once, revoked on its own.

Send later

Schedule a campaign for 9am. It goes at 9am, in your timezone.

Two SIMs, many phones

Pick the handset and the SIM per message. A switched-off SIM is refused, never swapped.

Webhooks

Signed callbacks on sent, delivered and failed. Stop polling.

You can see the phone

Online or offline, battery, which SIMs are enabled, when it last reported in. The one question you have when a message does not arrive, answered before you ask it.

Every message, searchable

A customer says the code never came. Type their number, see the message, the time, the phone it went from and exactly why it failed.

Why not an SMS provider

What an aggregator actually sells you

Every business sending SMS already has a phone and a SIM. What most are buying from a provider is permission to use them.

An SMS provider
  • A fee on every single message, forever.
  • Credit that expires, and a top-up to remember.
  • Sender-ID registration, approval and renewal.
  • A minimum spend before the good rate applies.
  • Your customer list sits on somebody else's servers.
With Gocabbi
  • Your SIM, your operator's ordinary rate.
  • No credit to buy and nothing to expire.
  • Messages come from your real number.
  • The same price whether you send 10 or 10,000.
  • Everything runs on your own server.

The per-message fee is the whole business model you are paying for

An SMS aggregator charges you for access to a network you already have access to. The SIM in your drawer is on the same network, at the rate you already pay.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Everything you need to know before you pair your first phone.

An Android phone with a SIM in it, and the Gocabbi app. Pair the phone by scanning a QR code from your panel, and you can send your first message from the Send screen or the API within a couple of minutes.

You pay your mobile operator exactly what you already pay them for SMS on that SIM — nothing more. Gocabbi charges a subscription for the software and adds nothing per message. If your bundle includes SMS, your marginal cost is whatever that bundle costs you.

A message is normally on the network within a second or two of the API call. It is queued, the phone is woken by a push notification, and it sends. One handset comfortably handles a few hundred messages an hour; add a second phone when you need more, or to keep transactional messages away from campaigns.

Messages stay queued and go out when it comes back, and the device list tells you it is offline before you have to guess. A message a phone picked up but never sent is returned to the queue automatically, and anything still unsent after its expiry window is marked expired rather than delivered late.

Yes. Pair as many handsets as your plan allows, and each one exposes both of its SIM slots separately. Every send names the phone and the SIM, so you decide exactly which number a message comes from. A SIM you have switched off is refused rather than quietly swapped for the other one.

You are sending SMS from your own SIM on your own account, which is what the SIM is for — but operators set their own fair-use terms, and bulk marketing traffic on a consumer plan is a common way to fall foul of them. Check your contract, use a business plan if you send in volume, and get consent before marketing. Compliance with the rules that apply to you is your responsibility, not ours.

Gocabbi is self-hosted, so your contacts, your message history and your API keys stay on your own server. Keys are stored hashed rather than in plain text, and message history is pruned on a retention period you set.

Yes. Import a CSV, group your contacts, and send to a whole group with placeholders filled in per person. Duplicate numbers are collapsed and anyone who has opted out is skipped automatically.
